KEEP IT SIMPLE

Luke 12:15 (CSB)
He then told them, “Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

1 Timothy 6:6-7 (CSB)
But godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out.

Those who strive to keep buying lots of possessions and to keep earning lots of money could end up wasting their life.  By focusing on the things of the world they lose sight of Jesus.  We need to focus on Jesus to gain our eternal life.

It is always good to declutter our possessions from time to time by either giving them away, giving them to charity or to sell them.  If we can simplify our life we have more space around us.  It is also a good idea to declutter our minds.  How much rubbish do we have going around in our minds?  If we declutter our minds we have more space there for Jesus.

Proverbs 15:16 (CSB)
Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure with turmoil.

No amount of wealth will buy peace of heart, mind and soul.

Proverbs 11:28 (CSB)
Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.

Anyone trusting in their wealth is trusting in uncertainty.  Those who trust in God will be looked after by Him and will flourish.

Proverbs 30:7-9 (CSB)
Two things I ask of you; don’t deny them to me before I die:  Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me.  Give me neither poverty nor wealth; feed me with the food I need.  Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying, “Who is the Lord?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

This proverb tells us it is far better to have a balanced life and to live a life honoring God.  If you seek God first, He will take care of you.  You will also be spiritually fed.

The Bible points us in the direction of a simpler life, a more balanced life and to be connected to Jesus at all times.
