A monsoon is a welcome occurrence in parts of the world where temperatures are very hot and the land very dry. A monsoon is a strong wind which in summer is called a wet monsoon because of the accompanying rain. God knows these dry areas of the world need rain and He provides a wet season so that the people are able to grow their crops.
Rain is very important, without it we would all be dead. God knows our every need.
Isaiah 55:10 (CSB)
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return there without saturating the earth and making it germinate and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat.
There was a time in the Bible, when Noah lived on the earth, that God used rain to flood the earth to kill all the wicked and evil people.
Genesis 7:4 (CSB)
“Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing I have made I will wipe off the face of the earth.”
There is also the time God withheld the rain.
Amos 4:7 (CSB)
I also withheld the rain from you while there were still three months until harvest. I sent rain on one city but no rain on another. One field received rain while a field with no rain withered.
This was a part of God’s discipline for people’s wickedness and disobedience, to a nation that would not return to God. There are consequences for sinners who refuse to repent and return to God.
When we believe in Jesus Christ we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
John 7:37-38 (CSB)
On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. The one who believes in me, as the scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”
The Holy Spirit is the living water.
The gospel is like rain to sinners. When the gospel is heard and the sinners repent and return to God, they will flourish. If they never hear the gospel or refuse to listen, they will wither. It is important in these last days, for believers in God, to get the message of the gospel out there to unbelievers.
Just as we die physically without water to drink and to grow crops, we also die spiritually if we are separated from God and do not have the living water of the Holy Spirit within us.
Have faith in God, believe in Jesus Christ, repent and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
