It was permitted to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast could both speak and cause whoever would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
Throughout the Bible, man has disobeyed God by worshiping false images and false idols and right up to this very day and beyond, man will continue to do so and thereby will, one day, see and know the wrath of God.
When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments He was very clear about idols.
Exodus 20:3-6 (CSB)
Do not have other gods besides me. Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.
In these end times/last days, the devil and his helpers here on earth are doing everything they can to confuse people by calling evil good and good evil. Evil spirits are at work tempting people away from God. People have become lovers of self rather than lovers of God.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (CSB)
But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.
Paul, in the above scripture, is speaking about the church age when he talks about the last days.
A false image or false idol is anything other than God. If God is not at the top of your list of the most important people or things in your life, then you need to very soon get Him in that number one spot.
When the antichrist, false prophet and the image of the beast from Revelation come upon the earth, we can see how that time is literally going to be hell on earth. Therefore, we need to be right with God and stay focused on Jesus at all times.
At one time I wondered if the image of the beast would be a man-made solid object, but now I believe that Hologram technology will be involved. It will be what I describe as ‘smoke and mirrors.’ With the technology we now have it is possible to produce images that appear real and it will fool a lot of people. Also remember technology is advancing at a fast pace! There is also the explanation that the ‘image of the beast’ is John’s (author of the Book of Revelation) symbolic and apocalyptic way of explaining how the beast will be worshiped.
We need to be very aware of everything that is happening around us as the devil continues with his attack on humanity.
