Colossians 3:16 (CSB)
Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
In the above verse of scripture, we are told that we are to teach others about the Word of God and a way we can do this is to read psalms, sing hymns and spiritual songs. All of these things will put the Word of God in our hearts and minds and teach us what is good and holy. It tells us that we should sing to God with gratitude in our hearts. We must sing from the heart and not just from the lips!
It also tells us to admonish one another. In the Collins Dictionary, the meaning of Admonish is; If you admonish someone, you tell them very seriously that they have done something wrong. In other words, we must warn others what will happen if they do not accept Jesus Christ into their hearts.
When we put the two together, admonishing and teaching, others will gain wisdom by having the Word of God in their hearts and minds and they will know the truth. The verse says, ‘Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you,’ and when we have the Word of God in our hearts and minds and we know the truth, and the Holy Spirit is dwelling within us, we are rich indeed. We are spiritually rich.
Hebrews 3:13 (CSB)
But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.
Beware of the devil’s lies and deceit! Don’t let unbelief harden your heart. Turn to the Word of God, be encouraged by others to learn more about God. Encourage others to learn the Word of God. The devil causes people to stumble and sin, but Jesus is forgiving and He is the way, the truth and the life. When you accept Jesus into your heart you are blessed.
Ephesians 5:19 (CSB)
Speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord.
This is how Christians should be living their lives. Encouraging one another with the Word of God and by being filled with the Holy Spirit, and being a powerful witness to everyone around us.
Acts 2:42 (CSB)
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
In the above verse from Acts, we learn the people devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, communion with one another and prayer, and they grew in knowledge and truth.
Hebrews 10:25 (CSB)
Not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
We are told to encourage each other and to grow in faith. We must not neglect meeting with other Christians. We are to inspire one another.
Romans 12:2 (CSB)
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
You must stop following the world and all its craziness and sin, and be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and this is only achieved by knowing God and His Word, repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus Christ into your heart.
Romans 15:4 (CSB)
For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.
The Bible tells us to encourage one another and to gain encouragement from the scriptures. We are told to have endurance, to keep going. The more we learn the Word of God, the more hope we have. When the world is as crazy as it is right now and we can now see that great day, when Jesus returns, getting even closer, we want to be right with God. Don’t leave it too late, get right with God now.
