Genesis 1:20-21 (CSB)
Then God said, “Let the water swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water, according to their kinds. He also created every winged creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:24-25 (CSB)
Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
God created all the different kinds of animals, birds, fish and insects in the world, including many which are now extinct. God saw that what He had created was good. God created all these animals before He created man, and before He created animals He created vegetation: food ready for all the animals and humans He was going to fill the earth with.
When you read the beginning of Genesis, you see there is a definite order to God’s creation. Everything has a purpose. God made man caretaker over all of His animals and vegetation.
Proverbs 27:23 (CSB)
Know well the condition of your flock, and pay attention to your herds.
God is telling us to look after the well-being of the animals and this is not just for the animals good, it is also for the owner’s good as well. We are to do our very best, not only for our own animals but for all animals, birds, fish and wildlife around us. When economic conditions decline, if the health and welfare of livestock is kept good, then supplies of milk, food, clothing and income will be available when everything else around us has failed. God is calling us to be good stewards.
Proverbs 12:10 (CSB)
The righteous cares about his animal’s health, but even the merciful acts of the wicked are cruel
A righteous person with a good heart cares for animals but an unrighteous person with an evil heart will show only cruelty.
Psalm 147:9 (CSB)
He provides the animals with their food, and the young ravens what they cry for.
God provides the animals with food to eat and rainwater to quench their thirst. So God will also provide the same for His own people and also feed them spiritually.
Psalm 50:10-11 (CSB)
For every animal of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
Psalm 50 speaks of the judgment of God against His people. It is a Psalm of Asaph, who was a prophet.
Job 12:7-10 (CSB)
But ask the animals, and they will instruct you; ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct you; let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? The life of every living thing is in his hand, as well as the breath of all humanity.
Psalm 145:9 (CSB)
The Lord is good to everyone; his compassion rests on all he has made.
Psalm 104:24 (CSB)
How countless are your works, Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
God knows everything about not only you and me, but He knows everything about every single animal, bird, fish and insect too.
Jesus said:
Luke 12:6 (CSB)
“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight.”
When I pray, I also pray for all animals. As we pray for God’s mercy and grace and for His protection over us, don’t forget to include a prayer for the well-being and protection of animals too.
Jesus said:
Luke 12:7-9 (CSB)
“Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.”
As we move further along through these end times and last days, we can take comfort in the truth that God loves us. He knows everything that we are living through, our joys and sorrows. We are told many times in the Bible not to be afraid. But in the above scripture we have a very clear warning, we must not deny Jesus. If we do, then we too will also be denied.
As times become more difficult, keep looking to Jesus. Help each other and don’t forget to help the animals too.
