Psalm 27:1 (CSB)
The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom should I fear?
Having Jesus in your life is powerful. It opens your eyes to the schemes of the devil that are all around us. Knowing Jesus and trusting Him makes you realise that He will protect you and you have nothing to fear.
Isaiah 60:1 (CSB)
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you. For look, darkness will cover the earth, and total darkness the peoples; but the Lord will shine over you, and his glory will appear over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to your shining brightness.
This prophecy was told to the prophet Isaiah, you can read about it in the Old Testament of the Bible. This prophecy will be finally fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ, as Israel is lifted up and all nations will see the glory of the Lord.
Daniel 12:3 (CSB)
Those who have insight will shine like the bright expanse of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
What was shown to Daniel in the Old Testament, relates to Revelation in the New Testament. Those who are wise will put all their trust in Jesus and will shine with the light of Jesus Christ to all around them. These people will lead many to righteousness by preaching and teaching the gospel and they will shine like stars in Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom and for all eternity.
Ecclesiastes 2:13 (CSB)
And I realized that there is an advantage to wisdom over folly, like the advantage of light over darkness.
We see in the above scripture the comparison between the light of God’s grace and the darkness of sin. Light is wisdom, darkness if folly. We can see the difference between the words good and evil; we see God in the word good and if we put a D in front of evil we have the word devil. God is goodness and light, the devil is evil and darkness.
Psalm 18:28 (CSB)
Lord, you light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness.
Psalm 119:105 (CSB)
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.
Ephesians 5:9 (CSB)
For the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
John 1:5 (CSB)
That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
As we read the above four scriptures, we see that Jesus is light and truth and darkness cannot ever overcome the light of Jesus Christ. Good will always overcome evil. We must display the light of Jesus Christ to others by telling them about the gospel.
Jesus said –
Matthew 5:14-16 (CSB)
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
We are to save as many souls as we can by leading others to Jesus Christ.
Jesus said –
John 9:5 (CSB)
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Jesus is the light of the world, and we His followers, by bringing the truth of Jesus Christ and the gospel to others, have become lights in the world too.
