Genesis 9:12-17 (CSB)
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations: I have placed my bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all the living creatures: water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature. The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the permanent covenant between God and all the living creatures on earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and every creature on earth.”
The rainbow is God’s covenant between Himself and all living creatures on earth.
In the last 3 years (as I write this, it is 2023) I have become aware that certain organisations have hijacked God’s rainbow for their own purposes. This is wrong. How many people actually know what the correct meaning of the rainbow is?
Yesterday after long and heavy rain, a rainbow appeared in the sky above the town where I live. It was a complete rainbow, no section of it was hidden from view. It was so vibrant in its colour. It is one of two of the most beautiful rainbows I have seen in my life. I was overjoyed to see it and I thanked God, because over the last week the sky has been choked with chemtrails. It was as though God was washing that awful pollution out of the sky with all the rain and then putting His rainbow in the sky as a sign to let us know that He is in control.
A rainbow is made up of the most beautiful colours, there is nothing dark about it! Jesus is light to the world and God’s rainbow is also light that promises God will never flood the earth again as in Noah’s time.
Ezekiel 1:28 (CSB)
The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the Lord’s glory.
As God was preparing His prophet Ezekiel for service, He showed Ezekiel a vision of His brilliant glory, a vision of a rainbow.
Revelation 10:1 (CSB)
Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face was like the sun, his legs were like pillars of fire.
Revelation 4:3 (CSB)
The one seated there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian stone. A rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald surrounded the throne.
Revelation 1:15-16 (CSB)
His feet were like fine bronze as it is fired in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of cascading waters. He had seven stars in his right hand; a sharp double-edged sword came from his mouth, and his face was shining like the sun at full strength.
The visions of the last days of earth, as told in Revelation, were given to John on the island of Patmos. Part of the vision showed him the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down to the new earth from heaven after the old earth had been destroyed. Revelation 4:3 is quite clearly describing God. Revelation 1:15-16 is describing Jesus Christ and Revelation 10:1 is thought to be describing either Michael the archangel or Jesus Christ.
The rainbow is quite clearly God’s. It is shown to us as being a covenant between God and us and every living creature on earth, it is shown as the likeness of the Lord’s glory and it is shown as surrounding God’s throne. It is clearly true that the rainbow is 100% God’s. Any organisations using the rainbow as a symbol for their own purposes is counterfeit!
