If you want God to bless you throughout your life, you must do this – Get your thoughts into alignment with God’s thoughts.
Deuteronomy 28:1 (CSB)
“Now if you faithfully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all his commands I am giving you today, the Lord your God will put you far above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come and overtake you, because you obey the Lord your God.”
Chapter 28 of Deuteronomy goes on to list all the blessings that God will give. Further on in this chapter of Deuteronomy, it lists all the curses that will befall the disobedient ones. The words in this chapter were given to Moses by God for the Israelites. They would receive blessings if they remained obedient to God. If they were disobedient to God, they would be cursed.
Blessings are not about wealth. It is about being well looked after by God in many areas of your life. A blessed life is being obedient to God, it’s about having your thoughts aligned with God’s thoughts. A cursed life is a life without God.
The Law of the Old Testament is not forgotten about, as some people think it is! Jesus even made this clear when He said in Matthew 5:17-18
Matthew 5:17-18 (CSB)
“Don’t think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all things are accomplished.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 139:23-24 (CSB)
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.
Proverbs 16:3 (CSB)
Commit your activities to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Psalm 143:10 (CSB)
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.
Psalm 119:66-67 (CSB)
Teach me good judgment and discernment, for I rely on your commands. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word.
God’s thoughts and ways are higher than our thoughts and ways, but we still need to follow God’s commands and align ourselves with God’s will. There are ways we can do this: By putting God first in our life. Gaining more knowledge of the Bible by reading and studying the Word of God daily. Committing our works to God. Having a thankful heart. Praying each day. Having a Christ-like mind.
When we put all of these things into practice, we develop a close relationship with our Father in heaven and we become a changed person. We become truly blessed.
