Philippians 4:6-7 (CSB)
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

This scripture tells us not to worry or be anxious about anything.  This is easier said than done because all of us, I would think, are worried, anxious or concerned about something at some time or other.  There’s always something to be concerned about, whether that is family, friends, animals, health, jobs or the state of the world right now.  God knows our concerns and worries and it’s not wrong to be concerned about any of these things, but God doesn’t want us to continually worry and be anxious.  He wants us to pray about the situation that is on our mind and ask Him for help, whatever the situation happens to be.  God also wants us to be thankful and we are to pray with thanksgiving to God.  We can thank God for the good things in our life, for the blessings we have received, for God being in control of everything and for His grace and mercy.

When we have thanked God and presented our request to Him, we can ask for His peace for our heart and mind.  To take away the anxious feelings that we have and to replace them with His peace, so that we can cope much better with whatever is happening in our life.  The peace of God will guard our heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Dear God,
Thank you for being ever present in our lives.  Thank you for listening to our worries and concerns.  Thank you for the good things you have given to us and for continuing to look after us.  We thank you for listening to our requests and knowing our needs, and we thank you for the gift of your peace, which surpasses all understanding, in our hearts and minds.  We thank you for Jesus and for your Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
