Colossians 2:6-7 (CSB)
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
As Christians we are rooted in Jesus Christ. We have a good foundation in Jesus Christ and we should build upon that, living our lives faithfully and justly, so that we are strengthened in the faith. When we are strong in the faith, we are less likely to be led astray by false teachers and deception. As Christians, we are not exempt from temptations and deception. Spiritual warfare is all around us, but if we have a good foundation and are rooted in Jesus Christ and are thankful, then we can resist and overcome whatever it is that is trying to tempt us away from our faith. Our protection is our walk with Jesus Christ and our great faith in Him.
This scripture from Colossians tells us about the Apostle Paul who was greatly concerned for the Colossian people’s spiritual welfare. He didn’t want them to be victims of deception from false teachers and false ideas.
Dear God,
We thank you that we are deeply rooted in Jesus Christ and that we have a good foundation. Please guide and help us to keep building upon that, so we stay strong in the faith and to always live a life that is pleasing to you. Thank you God for protecting us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
