2 Peter 3:17-18 (CSB)
Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
Throughout the Bible we are warned of the destructive nature of sin. When we sin, we need to repent and ask God for forgiveness. Peter, in the above scripture, is concerned about false teachers leading Christians astray. He advises people to be on their guard because if they are misled by false teaching, they will fall from their secure position. He teaches Christians to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We have to guard ourselves from spiritual error, otherwise we will fall from our secure position in Jesus Christ. We need to keep growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, and live a righteous life. We should glorify God in everything, so that others can see how great our God is.
Dear God,
As we go through our life, may we always grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We want to glorify your name God in everything we do and live a righteous life, so that we do not fall from our secure position in Jesus Christ. We pray for discernment so that we recognise who the false teachers are, and can then stay away from them. Help us to be on our guard at all times. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
