Zephaniah 2:3 (CSB)
Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, who carry out what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be concealed on the day of the Lord’s anger.
Zephaniah was a prophet who lived about 650 years before Jesus Christ was born. He was given this prophecy by God, to give as an urgent call to people to repent and seek the Lord before God’s final judgement comes to the whole earth. The prophecy tells people to live a righteous life and a humble life. God requires people to align themselves to Him and follow His commands. He also requires people to be humble and to get rid of all pride in their heart. Zephaniah urged the righteous people of Israel, who were the remnant flock, to seek the Lord and to be humble, for them to perhaps be hidden on the day of God’s wrath.
Zephaniah’s prophecy is equally as important now, both to the wicked and sinful people of the world to repent and seek the Lord, and also to the righteous people of the world to keep seeking after righteousness and to always remain humble. This prophecy, in Zephaniah’s time, was addressed to the people of Israel, but as God’s wrath is coming to the whole world, we all need to take notice of how we should be living our lives, as God commands us to.
Dear God,
Thank you for Your Word, which leads us to the truth to seek the Lord and live a righteous and humble life. Thank you for your grace and mercy. We pray that many people will turn to Jesus and be saved before your day of wrath comes upon the earth. We pray that we are concealed in Jesus Christ in the coming time of tribulation. May we always follow your commands. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
