John 10:9 (CSB)
“I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.”
Jesus spoke the words of this verse. He is the only way to salvation and God, for all who believe in Him. He is the Good Shepherd and believers in Him are His sheep. Jesus describes Himself as the gate, like the gate of a sheep pen through which the sheep enter. All who enter are saved and receive their salvation and will not perish but will have eternal life.
God will forgive sinners who repent. He wants everyone to be saved, but first we must recognise that we are a sinner. Sin will bring us spiritual death. We must have faith in God and ask for forgiveness for our sins. If we are truly sorry and repent of our sins and believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and believe that Jesus was raised from the dead 3 days later, thereby, defeating sin and death forever, we are saved.
When we become a believer in Jesus we are born again, we go from spiritual death to spiritual life, we are a new creation in Jesus Christ. The new life we receive is eternal. When we are saved we make the decision to stop sinning and to live a righteous life. We stop being a lost sheep and we come under the protection of God. If you haven’t yet asked Jesus Christ into your heart and life and would like to, here is a prayer you can say.
Lord Jesus,
I come to you today. I am a sinner, I repent of my sins please forgive me. I believe you died and rose for me. Jesus Christ, come into my life, be my Lord and Saviour. Take control of my life from this day forward. Thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen.
