Onward Christian Soldiers

Proberbs 28:6 (CSB)
Better the poor person who lives with integrity than the rich one who distorts right and wrong.

God wants us to build up our character to be honest, follow His commands and to treat others fairly.  God doesn’t look at a person’s wealth as success.  Material possessions do not build up a person’s character.  God would rather a person have integrity and live an honest life.  An honest person with a good character is rich in God’s eyes, even if, in the world’s eyes, that person is poor.  For the person who is rich through dishonesty and who has trampled on others in their race to get to the top of the success ladder, in the world’s eyes, can end up being spiritually ruined.  Jesus said that a person cannot serve both God and money.  Wealth is not wrong but it should never be more important to you than your faith in God and leading an honest life.

Dear God,
Thank you for our spiritual growth that comes through building up our character.  Following Your commands, being truthful, honest and treating others fairly makes us rich in your eyes, even if we are poor in the world’s eyes.  Thank you for showing us how to live our lives with integrity.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
