2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 (CSB)
The coming of the lawless one is based on satan’s working, with every kind of miracle, both signs and wonders serving the lie, and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe the lie, so that all will be condemned – those who did not believe the truth but delighted in unrighteousness.
These verses of scripture tell us what is going to happen in the world during the end times/last days. The coming of the lawless one refers to the antichrist, he will be empowered by the devil. He will perform signs and wonders to deceive people. When he makes his appearance to the world he will try to be God. The beast system will begin, as a final global empire is put into place. The antichrist will be the ruler of this new political system, often referred to as a one-world government. The seven year tribulation will begin as he takes his position. The verses mention those who are perishing, these are people who are unbelievers in God and people who have turned their backs on God. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth. They did not accept Jesus into their heart and make Him their Lord and Saviour. They believed the lies of the devil instead. They have not been saved, they are perishing. For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe the lie. The people who believe the lie and delight in unrighteousness will be condemned.
Dear God,
Thank you for Jesus Christ and the truth of Your Word. Thank you that we have been saved and are aware of the devil’s schemes. Thank you for wisdom and discernment, so that we will know the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We know the antichrist will be thrown into the lake of fire by Jesus Christ on His glorious return to the Earth to begin His 1,000 year millennial reign. Thank you God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
