Psalms 2:11 (CSB)
Serve the Lord with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.

The author of the Psalm was King David.  He writes about rulers and kings of the earth who conspire together against the Lord.  He urges them to stop having a rebellious attitude and to serve the Lord’s anointed Son with reverential awe (respect) and to rejoice with trembling, so as to avoid eternal punishment.  The culture of those kings and rulers was Godless, they didn’t want divine authority over them.

The Psalm was for those at the time of King David but it is also a prophecy of end times.  This Psalm predicts King Jesus who will destroy rebellious nations with an iron rod, but those who take refuge in Jesus Christ are blessed.  This Psalm is a prophecy yet to come, when Jesus Christ returns to the earth to judge a rebellious world.  This Psalm is a warning to rebellious world leaders and people in the end times, but also serves as an invitation to them to serve the Lord with respect.  A rebellious world against God cannot succeed because it will be judged when Jesus Christ returns.

Dear God,
We pray for the world and its leaders.  We pray for all to come to the truth of Jesus Christ and to serve Him with respect.  Thank you God for blessing us who know the truth of Your Word and Jesus Christ.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
