Psalms 24:1-2 (CSB)
The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the Lord; for he laid its foundation on the seas and established it on the rivers.
King David is the author of this Psalm. In the Psalm, David is declaring that God is Creator and Sovereign of everything, the earth and its inhabitants; humans, animals, birds, fish, insects, all plant life, all of nature, absolutely everything. People act as stewards of God’s belongings. God laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and established it on the rivers. God has authority over everything. God made every day, week, month and year. We should rejoice and be glad in it. It’s important that we use the talents that God has given us to help advance the Kingdom of God, ready for the return of Jesus Christ. We do this by sharing with others the good news of the gospel, obeying God’s commands, living righteously, being kind to others, staying faithful and watchful.
Dear God,
We praise your Holy name and we thank you for our life and the beauty of your creation. Each new day is a gift and we should rejoice and be glad in it. We thank you for your loving kindness, grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
