Romans 15:4 (CSB)
For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the scriptures.
The Apostle Paul is saying that the Old Testament is valuable, in that it wasn’t just for the people of the Old Testament times, it is for people of the Apostle Paul’s time and also future generations. It is the Word of God, full of truth and wisdom, and it serves as encouragement for believers and gives them hope. Reading and studying scripture gives us endurance and patience when we are struggling and going through hard times.
Dear God,
Thank you for Your Word, both Old and New Testaments. Thank you for the valuable teaching they give us, to offer us encouragement and hope in times of struggle and need. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
