Psalms 4:8 (CSB)
I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.
King David was able to sleep well at night because he trusted the Lord to keep him safe from harm. He handed over his troubles to God and fully trusted Him. David knew it was God who filled his heart with joy. King David was often surrounded by enemies but his trust in God brought him peace, joy and safety.
We too can have rest and be free from anxiety, when we put our trust in God to keep us safe. If we have any concerns or problems, we can hand them over to God and our mind will be filled with peace and joy, instead of anxiety.
Dear God,
Thank you that we can hand over our problems and concerns to you, and that when we put our trust in you God, you fill our mind with peace and joy, giving us true rest. Thank you for your protection and for keeping us safe from all harm and evil. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
