Isaiah 2:11-12 (CSB)
The pride of mankind will be humbled, and human loftiness will be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day. For a day belonging to the Lord of Armies is coming against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up – it will be humbled.
The prophet Isaiah foretold, The Day of the Lord. A time of God’s judgement on humanity is coming to the earth. These verses tell us that prideful, arrogant people will be brought low and humbled. God has appointed a day to punish the proud and powerful people of the earth.
Isaiah, in about 700 BC, warned the wealthy society of that time, who had turned away from God and were living a sinful life, of what was to come. All nations of the earth, during this time, will know God as the Lord. The Lord will be exalted on that day. Isaiah, at the end of chapter 2, warns people not to trust fallible people, instead of God.
Whatever may happen in the years to come, remember that Jesus is returning to earth and all the powerful, sinful, prideful, arrogant people of this world will be brought low and humbled. This will be a glorious time, as we look forward to Jesus Christ’s return and His 1,000 year Millennial Reign on earth.
Dear God,
We pray for the people of this earth who do not know you, that they will turn to you, repent and believe in Jesus. Our world is changing fast. Thank you God for continuing to protect and bless us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
