1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (CSB)
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

When we read this scripture we are reminded of God’s goodness and we should have an attitude of gratitude.  Whatever we go through in life, God is there with us in sad times as well as happy times.  Keeping a strong faith gets you through any situation you face.  We are told to rejoice always, pray constantly and to give thanks in everything.  Keeping a strong faith and a joyful, thankful heart will give us an attitude of gratitude, and praying daily and having conversations with God every day will bring us closer to Him.  We are told that by doing these things, this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.

In chapter 5 of 1 Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul calls upon the Thessalonian believers to be kind and patient to one another.  He tells them to be joyful at all times and to pray and be thankful constantly.  The subject of chapter 5, is The Day of the Lord, when Jesus Christ returns to earth.  Paul tells the believers that when the world says ‘Peace and Security,’ sudden destruction will come upon them.  Paul tells the believers that they are all children of light and of the day and that they do not belong to the night or the darkness.  He tells them not to sleep like the rest, but to stay awake and be self-controlled.

Dear God,
Thank you for being a kind and good God.  Thank you for the warnings we have in the Bible about the end times and last days, and the guidance you give us on how to get through these times that are coming upon the earth.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
