Matthew 28:18-20 (CSB)
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
These words that Jesus Christ spoke are called, ‘The Great Commission.’ Jesus is talking to His disciples, after He rose from the dead and before He went back to heaven. Jesus told them that all authority has been given to Him in heaven and on earth. Jesus instructed His disciples to go to all nations and make disciples of all the nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He told the disciples to teach people of all nations to observe everything He has commanded. Jesus tells His disciples that He is with them always, to the end of the age.
It is the job of all believers in the world today to also make disciples of people in all nations. We all have a part to play in The Great Commission. Jesus Christ is with us always and God’s Holy Spirit will help us if we are not sure of what to say. Jesus has called us all to tell people the good news of the gospel and to make disciples of them. The age we live in now with the internet, international travel, Bibles printed in many different languages and migration, the opportunities we now have to make disciples of people is enormous. We have an important job to do for Jesus, before He returns to earth.
Dear God,
We pray that many opportunities will occur for us to be able to tell people the good news of the gospel. Thank you Jesus that you are with us as we do this important job for you. Thank you Holy Spirit for guiding us on what to say. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
