Psalms 100:1-2 (CSB)
Let the whole earth shout triumphantly to the Lord! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Psalm 100 is a psalm of thanksgiving and begins by inviting the whole earth to praise the Lord, to serve the Lord with gladness and to sing joyful songs to Him. We are reminded that serving the Lord is a happy experience and a privilege, and when we sing hymns and psalms it glorifies God.
Further on in Psalm 100, we acknowledge that the Lord is God and we are His people. We are to give thanks to Him and bless His name. We are to enter His temple gates with praise. This means we approach God with a grateful heart and are joyful in our worship to Him. The Psalm ends by telling us that the Lord is good and His faithful love endures forever, through all generations.
Dear God,
We thank you for making it possible for us to approach you with joyful worship. We will serve you with gladness and glorify Your Holy Name. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
