Acts 2:38 (CSB)
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Apostle Peter was a leader of the early Christian Church. He helped convert thousands of people to Christianity. When a person has faith in God and believes in Jesus Christ, repents of their sins and asks for forgiveness, they are saved by grace through faith and are filled with God’s Holy Spirit. When people are baptized, it is the next step they take as a public sign that they are now a Christian and are following Jesus Christ. During a person’s baptism, it is an outward public sign that they have been washed clean of their sins by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Dear God,
Thank you that our sins can be forgiven by believing in Jesus Christ and by repenting of our sins. Thank you that we have been washed clean of our sins by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. Thank you for baptism as an outward public sign that we now have a changed heart and mind and are following Jesus Christ. Thank you God for the gift of grace you have given to us through our faith in You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
