Ephesians 4:22-24 (CSB)
To take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on, the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.
When you are a believer in Jesus Christ, repented of your sins, been forgiven by God and are filled with God’s Holy Spirit, how are you meant to live your life now you are a Christian? You take off your former way of life because that life was corrupted by deceitful desires, then you put on your new self. We are told our new self is the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. So, we tear down our former self, with its sinful habits and actively reject our past behaviours. Next, we put on our new self by changing our thoughts and actions. We transform our way of thinking, we change from the inside. Our new self is to live a righteous and holy life and be Holy Spirit led.
Dear God,
Thank you for your gift of salvation. Thank you for the new life that we now lead, a righteous, truth filled life. We have rejected our old self and have gladly put on our new self. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
