1 Peter 1:3-5 (CSB)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
We have been given new birth into a living hope and this is by Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. Our inheritance is kept securely in heaven for us. We are guarded by God’s power through our faith in Him, and our salvation is ready and will be revealed when, finally, we are with Jesus. In this world the devil will try to distract us and destroy us, but God is guarding us because we have faith in Him.
The Apostle Peter was writing to persecuted Christian believers in Asia Minor, who were suffering for their faith. Peter was encouraging these Christians and reminding them of their inheritance which was being kept securely in heaven for them.
Dear God,
When the world is trying to distract and destroy us, we are reminded that you are guarding us God because we have faith in you. Our salvation is safe and being kept securely for us in heaven for when we are finally with Jesus for all eternity. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
