Exodus 14:14 (CSB)
“The LORD will fight for you, and you must be quiet.”

When Pharaoh had let the Israelites go from Egypt, from their slavery, Moses led them through the wilderness towards the Red Sea.  During that time, Pharaoh changed his mind and sent 600 of his best chariots and the rest of the chariots in Egypt to pursue the Israelites.  The Israelites were camping by the sea, they looked up and saw the Egyptians coming after them and cried out to the LORD for help.  Moses told the Israelites not to be afraid, to stand firm and God would save them.  Then Moses said, “The LORD will fight for you, and you must be quiet.”  The angel of God then put a pillar of cloud between the Israelites and the Egyptians.  Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, as God had instructed him to, and the sea parted and the Israelites walked through the sea on the dry ground of the sea bed.  The Egyptians carried on pursuing the Israelites through the sea.  When Moses and the Israelites had crossed over, Moses stretched out his hand again over the sea and the sea returned to normal. The Egyptians, chariots and horses all drowned, not one survivor was left.

This account of the Israelites and the Red Sea parting, lets us know that by fully trusting God, standing firm and not being afraid, God will work on our behalf and deliver us from whatever situation we are facing.  We must just be quiet and not panic or be anxious.  Asking God for help and then quietly waiting for God to help us, in His time,  is the best step to take when there doesn’t seem to be another way out of the situation we are in.  Asking God for help should be the first thing we should do.  God will fight for us but we must be quiet.

Dear God,
When we are in a situation and we don’t know what to do, we should ask for your help. Help us God to fully trust you and then to wait quietly for you to make a way out of the situation we are in. Thank you God.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
