Hebrews 13:1-2 (CSB)
Let brotherly love continue.  Don’t neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it.

To show Christian brotherly love for others, means to be sincere and to show a genuine concern for people.  The verse reminds us that we need to be hospitable to others, including strangers.  It tells us that by doing so some people have welcomed angels as guests, without realising who their guests really are.  Angels can take the form of humans.  Hospitality is Biblical, it shows us how to serve others, and not just ourselves.  To show someone else a smiling, friendly face and a helpful attitude, can make a big difference to someone else’s day.  Whatever we do for others, we do for Jesus.

Dear God,
Help us to recognise the needs of others, to offer our help or time when it is needed.  To be helpful and hospitable with a smile on our face, and not to grumble or resent helping out when help is needed.  Help us to show care and love to others.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
