Malachi 1:11 (CSB)
“My name will be great among the nations, from the rising of the sun to its setting. Incense and pure offerings will be presented in my name in every place because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Armies.
This verse from Malachi is prophetic. God was not pleased with the sacrifices that the Israeli priests were offering. They were offering blind, lame and sick animals instead of unblemished sacrifices. God is rebuking the priests, in the verse, by letting them know that He would rather they stop offering their sacrifices altogether than insulting Him by offering flawed sacrifices. God lets them know that in the future His name will be great among the Gentile nations. The rising of the sun to its setting means, all nations of the world. God will be honored globally.
There are different viewpoints on this verse, depending on the denomination of the church. The Protestant view of this verse is of a prophecy of the New Covenant era. The Roman Catholic view is of the Eucharist. The Millennial view points ahead to the Millennial Kingdom and the return of Jesus, where the worship of God will completely fill the Earth.
Dear God,
We are getting nearer to the time when your name will be known in every nation of the Earth. Your name will be great among the nations globally. The time ahead which is coming will be a glorious time when Jesus returns to rule the Earth, and Your Name will be honored globally. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
