Galatians 5:22-23 (CSB)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  The law is not against such things.

These are the nine virtues we receive when we have received the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We have to work at each of these virtues to become better at each one.  We can then let these virtues shine through us, to others, as a witness that God’s Holy Spirit is within us.  The way we know if someone really does have God’s Holy Spirit within them or is a deceiver is to look to see if they have these nine virtues, and are actively using them.  As we grow in our faith, the nine fruits of the Spirit will become stronger, and at the same time we must rid ourselves of our old sinful nature.  These virtues are in harmony with God’s law.

Dear God,
Thank you for your gift of the Holy Spirit living within us, and the gift of the Fruit of the Spirit which makes us a better person if we actively use all nine virtues.  Help us to rid ourselves of our old sinful nature and to keep growing in faith day by day.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
