Isaiah 22:22 (CSB)
I will place the key of the house of David on his shoulders; what he opens, no one can close; what he closes, no one can open.

The prophet Isaiah wrote this prophecy about a future event that was to take place during the reign of King Hezekiah.  It concerns a palace steward called Shebna who God removed from his position, and replaced him with Eliakim.  The act of placing the key of the house of David on Eliakim’s shoulders, symbolizes giving Eliakim administrative control over the royal household.  This prophecy is also linked to Jesus Christ.  The time gap between King Hezekiah and the birth of Jesus Christ is approximately 700 years.  Jesus Christ and King Hezekiah are both descendants of King David.  Isaiah 22:22 is also a prophecy about Jesus Christ because of Jesus’ supreme spiritual authority.  In Revelation 3:7 (CSB) Jesus says, “Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia:  Thus says the Holy One, the true one, the one who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and who closes and no one opens.”  Jesus has the authority of who enters into eternal life.  If Jesus wants something to happen He provides an open door to achieve this and no opposition can close the door.  He also closes the door if He doesn’t want something to happen and no opposition can open the door.

Dear God,
Thank you for giving Jesus Christ supreme spiritual authority.  Thank you that Jesus is returning to Earth to reign supreme.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
