Romans 12:12 (CSB)
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.
The Apostle Paul was the author of this verse. These three commands provide us with the answer for spiritual and emotional wellness. Paul is referring to the hope we have when we are finally united to God forever (Romans 8:23-25 (CSB) and that is worth rejoicing over. Paul tells us to be patient in affliction. When times are hard we must try to be patient. Life is always full of up’s and down’s all through our life. Paul tells us that hardships in life on earth are not worth comparing with the glory we have to come (Romans 8:18 (CSB) which will be revealed to us. Paul also tells us to be persistent in prayer, to pray continually. When we are suffering, we should be hopeful and pray and we will get through the hard times much easier. To pray and to have hope during hard times will give us the patience we need to overcome the struggles we face.
Dear God,
Thank you for showing us how to cope better when we face struggles and hardship in our life. Thank you that we have Your Holy Spirit within us to guide us through life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
