There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.
A Christian is recognized by the love they have within them. As a child of God and born again believer, a Christian has love in their heart and mind and they show love to others. To live your life according to God’s love, removes any fear you have about God’s judgement. When we are obedient to God and live our life according to God’s love, we have a good relationship with God. The verse tells us that anyone who fears is not complete in love. As Christians we are always growing and maturing in our faith, so the one who fears has not yet matured in their faith. It is an ongoing process to grow and mature in your faith. For spiritual growth we need to regularly read God’s Word in the Bible, follow God’s command, pray, talk with other Christians, help others and have faith, trust and patience when going through struggles and trials. All of these things help us to grow and mature in our faith.
Dear God,
Help us to always keep on growing and maturing in our faith. Help us to have perfect love, because perfect love drives out fear. Help us to live a righteous life, filled with love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
