2 Corinthians 4:6 (CSB)
For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians chapter 4, is defending his ministry and the integrity of the gospel, against the false teachers and critics in Corinth.  This verse tells us that God has shone light into the hearts of His preachers; Paul and the men who serve with him.  The devil has spiritually blinded some people so they can not see the truth.  In contrast, God shines light inside human hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.  To show people that through belief in the gospel and belief in Jesus Christ there is forgiveness of sins and salvation for people.  The glory of God and His grace and the character of God is seen in Jesus Christ.  Paul points to a parallel between God speaking physical light into existence when He created the heavens and the earth, and God shining light into our hearts to provide us with inner spiritual illumination.  Paul states to people that his main mission is to bring to the people the true gospel of Jesus Christ, who is Lord and Saviour.  God can break through the darkness of the spiritually blind unbelievers and restore the spiritual sight in them, so they will understand about God’s love, mercy and grace and the salvation that comes through having belief in Jesus Christ.

Dear God,
We pray for the truth of the gospel to reach people in these last days.  To break through the darkness of the spiritually blind people and restore their spiritual sight and the light in their hearts.  We pray for the salvation of these people.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
