Psalms 37:3-4 (CSB)
Trust in the LORD, and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
By putting your trust in the Lord and doing what is good, you will have no need to worry or to be fearful of what is going on around you in the world. Live in the land where God has placed you and you will live securely. By trusting God and having inner peace you will be content to stay where God has placed you. Don’t focus your thoughts on the negative aspects of where you live, instead focus your thoughts on the positive aspects of your surroundings. Have an attitude of gratitude and acknowledge the blessings God has already given you. Trust God and follow His command. To take delight in the Lord is to put God first, and not put worldly things first. If the desires of your heart align with God’s will for you, He will give you your heart’s desires.
The author of this psalm was King David. He wrote it in his later years. Psalm 37 is about trusting God and not to worry or envy or be agitated by evildoers. Instead, we are to trust and wait upon the Lord.
Dear God,
Thank you for where you have placed us. By trusting you and doing what is good, appreciating the place we call home and focusing on the positive and not on the negative, we can live contently with joy in our hearts. By trusting you and following your command, we have no need to be fearful of what is happening in the world. We will be blessed with inner peace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
