1 John 5:11-13 (CSB)
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Christian tradition attributes this letter to the Apostle John who was writing to Christians who had been confused by false teachers, who had denied the full incarnation and humanity of Jesus Christ. John is trying to stop the believers from having doubts about Jesus Christ, because of what the false teachers had been saying. John is letting the Christians know that they can be confident in their salvation.
False teachers and false prophets are still around in the world even now. We need to be discerning about what we are being told because not everyone is genuine and telling the truth. Read the Bible and know what God’s Word says. Then you will know the truth and you will not be deceived by the lies of the false teachers and false prophets.
Dear God,
We pray for discernment for all believers, to enable us to know what is truth and what is lies. Please help us and guide us through the chaos that is in the world now. We thank you for your protection. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
