Psalms 66:4 (CSB)
“The whole earth will worship you and sing praise to you. They will sing praise to your name.”
The author of psalm 66 is not known. It is a song of praise and thanksgiving, for both communal worship and individual worship. Between verses 1-4 is the communal worship and praise of God’s name. The writer of the psalm summons the whole earth to worship and sing praise to God’s name. Further on in the psalm, it tells of God’s power when He parted the waters; the Red Sea and the River Jordan. It speaks of how God refines people through trials, like silver is refined with fire. The psalm at verse 16 and onwards tells of a man who cried out to God, and God heard him because the man had not kept hidden sin in his heart.
Dear God,
We praise your name and thank you for everything that you do for us. You listen to our prayers and help us in times of need. We thank you for your faithfulness and loving kindness. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
